Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani separately met with Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of Iraq Masrour Barzani and Minister of Industry and Trade of Czech Republic Jozef Sikela, on the sidelines of his participation in the World Economic Forum (Davos 2022).
The meetings reviewed issues of joint interest aimed at promoting the cooperation in the fields of trade, investment and industry between the State of Qatar and each of Iraqi Kurdistan and the Czech Republic, in addition to exchanging views on the topics listed on the Forum’s agenda.
During the two meetings, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry highlighted the successful economic policies established by the State of Qatar to support the private sector, as well as the incentives, legislation and promising opportunities available in the country that aim to encourage investors, businessmen and owners of companies to invest in the State of Qatar.
Qatar and Iraq are linked to a number of memoranda of understanding and agreements, including the agreement on economic, commercial and technical cooperation. A total of 304 Iraqi companies operate in various economic sectors and activities in the State of Qatar. The two countries also recorded 145.3 million dollars in terms of trade exchange in 2021.
In the context of trade relations between the State of Qatar and the Czech Republic, the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached about $165.8 million last year.
