His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held an official talks session at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday.

At the outset of the session, HH the Amir welcomed President of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay, affirming His Highness’ keenness to enhance brotherly relations between the two countries and looking forward to further joint cooperation.

For his part, President of Somalia expressed his thanks and appreciation for HH the Amir for the good reception and hospitality, expressing his pride in the level of cooperation and development of relations between the two brotherly countries and pushing them to broader horizons in various fields.

The Somali president also extended his thanks and appreciation to HH the Amir for the development support provided by Qatar to the Somali people.

During the session, bilateral relations between Qatar and Somalia were discussed, as well as ways to support and develop them in various fields of cooperation – especially in development and economy, to serve the common interests and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples, in addition to discussing the most important regional and international developments of mutual interest.

Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Culture HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi and a number of senior officials attended the talks session.

On the Somali side, Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Saleh Ahmed Jamea, Minister of Finance of the Federal Republic of Somalia Dr. Elmi Mahmud Nur, Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, Director of the State House of Somali President Hussein Sheikh Mahmoud and a number of members of the official delegation attended the talks session.

HH the Amir held a luncheon banquet in honor of President of Somalia and the accompanying delegation.

Earlier upon arrival at the Amiri Diwan, he Somali president was accorded an official reception.
