Amir visits Spanish Senate

His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Tuesday visited the Senate of Spain in Madrid. HH the Amir was received by President of the Senate of Spain Ander Gil, President of the Spanish Congress of Deputies Meritxell Batet, and members of the Spanish Senate and the Spanish Congress of Deputies.
During the visit, HH the Amir addressed the issue of relations of cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance them, especially in the field of exchanging experiences in parliamentary and legislative work. The two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest. After that, HH the Amir received the Senate Medal and the Congress of Deputies, as an expression of the ties of friendship and partnership between the two countries. HH the Amir delivered a speech at the Senate, in which he extended his thanks to the President of the Senate and the President of the Congress of Deputies for granting His Highness the two medals, expressing his gratitude for this honor. On this occasion, HH the Amir pointed out to the strong historical relations between Qatar and the Kingdom of Spain, which are characterized by continuous development and increased cooperation, noting that the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
HH the Amir explained that his visit to Madrid emphasizes his keenness to strengthen Qatari-Spanish relations at the governmental, parliamentary and peoples’ level, based on the two countries’ belief in mutual values, principles and constants. (QNA)
