Cabinet approves cloud computing policy

Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani chaired the regular meeting held by the Cabinet at its headquarters in the Amiri Diwan, on Wednesday.

Following the meeting, the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs said the following: At the beginning of the meeting, the Council of Ministers extended the highest congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the occasion of Qatar’s national football team’s victory in the Asian Cup 2023.

The Council also congratulated the Qatari people, the national team, and its technical and administrative staff on this historic achievement, which came as an extension of Qatar’s achievements and successes in various fields, thanks to the wise policy of His Highness the Amir of the country.

The Council expressed its thanks and appreciation to all state agencies that contributed to the preparation and organization of this exceptional tournament, the success it achieved, and the broad public interaction it characterized.

The Council of Ministers expressed its congratulations to the ministries, agencies and government institutions that won the Qatar Government Excellence Award in its first session, praising their appreciated efforts and distinguished achievements that qualified them for this win.

The Council also expressed its pride in Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan bint Mohammed Al Kuwari, receiving the Best Minister in the World Award, during the World Government Summit 2024, currently being held in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, stressing that this global honour embodies the world’s appreciation, because of the remarkable development achievements that Qatar has achieved, thanks to the wise and rational policy of its leadership and the sincere efforts of its people.

After that, the Council of Ministers considered the topics on the agenda as follows: First – Approval of a draft law amending some provisions of the Law Regulating Tenders and Auctions issued by Law No. (24) of 2015.

Second: Approval of the Cloud Computing First policy, proposed by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Third – Approval of: 1- A draft memorandum of understanding regarding training in aviation fields between Qatar Aeronautical Academy and Embry-Riddle Aviation University.

2- Proposal for the capacity-building programme in the field of international protection of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law in San Remo – Italy.

Fourth – The Council of Ministers reviewed the following two topics and took the appropriate decision regarding them: 1- A report on the results of participation in the Conference of the Parties (28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).

2- A report on the results of holding the Qatari-Tajik Business Forum.
