FIBA delegation briefed on Qatar’s preparations for Basketball World Cup 2027

A delegation from the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) concluded a two-day visit to Doha to learn about the latest developments and preparations related to Qatar’s organisation of the Basketball World Cup 2027.

Aspects related to legacy in the preparations for organising the tournament through cooperation and coordination with various partners as well as holding lengthy discussions aimed at establishing a lasting legacy based on developing young talents, building technical capabilities, enhancing interest in sports, and achieving sustainable development goals through basketball initiatives were emphasized during the visit.

Representatives from Qatar Foundation, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, Qatar Fund for Development, Qatar School Sports Federation, Qatar Tourism, and Generation Amazing participated in the discussions.

During the visit, the marketing strategy for the global event was discussed, with a focus on the comprehensive vision, digital participation, and strategic partnerships to confirm the joint commitment to providing an exceptional edition of the Basketball World Cup.

The FIBA delegation made an inspection visit to the facilities that will host the competitions and the official hotels for the major global event.

Qatar was awarded the hosting rights for the Basketball World Cup 2027 during the FIBA Central Board meeting held in the Philippines capital, Manila, last April.
