PM to participate in pledging conference to support Sudan

Advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Majed bin Mohammad Al Ansari has announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani will participate via video conference Monday in the High-level Pledging Event to Support the Humanitarian Response in Sudan and the Region.

Qatar will co-chair the eventalongside Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Germany, and the United Nations, represented by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the European Union, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr Al Ansari said the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will announce a financial pledge from Qatar to support the humanitarian response to the brotherly Sudanese people.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr Al Ansari said the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will announce a financial pledge from Qatar to support the humanitarian response to the brotherly Sudanese people.

The PM will also affirm Qatar’s support for the brotherly Republic of Sudan to overcome the current crisis and the need to mobilize support to face its repercussions on the humanitarian level, as well as the need to support all efforts aimed at finding a political solution to the crisis.

Dr Al Ansari also noted that Qatar has provided 301 tonnes of food and medical aid since the outbreak of the fighting in Sudan, and has evacuated 1,784 of holders of the Qatari residency, as part of its continuous support to the brotherly Sudanese people.
