Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker has reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to sustainability.
“At Qatar Airways (QA), we remain steadfast in our ambition to demonstrate leadership in environmental sustainability, in order to ensure a safe and sustainable industry for future generations,” Al Baker said on Sunday as the activities of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) conference kicked off in Doha.
The IATA conference aims to find solutions that contribute to the prosperity of the civil aviation sector in the coming years.
Organised by Qatar Airways, the three-day conference brings together nearly 240 IATA member airlines.
Al Baker said, “I wish to extend a heartfelt warm welcome to everyone here today. Qatar Airways is proud to be hosting the IATA 78th Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit, it is truly an honour to have you here in Doha.”
Al Baker emphasised on working together to overcome challenges.
“Our agility and resilience, together with the efficiency and commitment of our employees, has allowed us to emerge in a strong position from one of the most challenging periods this industry has ever faced,” Qatar Airways chief said.
Al Baker added, “Today, as the industry works towards re-establishing connectivity and serving our customers, we are acutely aware of the vital role that we play in restoring the world’s economies and enhancing people’s lives,” he said.
Speaking about Qatar Airways’ record financial performance, Al Baker said, “I am proud to share that just last Thursday, we published our annual report for the fiscal year 2021-22, reporting a record profit of $1.54 billion for the same period.”
Al Baker reiterated, “Our strongest financial performance is a testament of the airline’s successful strategy which continued to focus on customer needs and evolving market opportunities.”
