The General Assembly Meeting (GAM) of Qatar Chamber (QC), which was scheduled to be held on Wednesday, May 10, has been postponed due to a lack of a quorum of members who were eligible to attend, Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani has announced.

The second GAM will be held on Sunday, May 28 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel regardless of the number of attendees, Sheikh Khalifa added.

Earlier, the chamber invited its members to attend the meeting whose agenda includes reviewing the report of the Board of Directors on the chamber’s activities and financial status for the year ending December 31, 2022, approving the auditor’s report on the chamber’s budget, final accounts, and reviewing the statement of revenues and expenses for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2022.

The agenda also includes discharging the members of the board of directors and approving the estimated budget for the fiscal year 2023, in addition to appointing a new auditor for the fiscal year 2023 and determining his fees.

The GAM also will witness the elections of a new board of directors for the seventh council. It is noteworthy that the members who are entitled to attend the GAM and vote in the elections are the paid-up members, bringing a copy of their Commercial Registrations and Qatari IDs.

The member is entitled to attend whether in person or delegate a proxy. In case of attending as a proxy, the member must be one of the chamber’s members, and the power of attorney must be certified by the Qatar Chamber and approved by the Chairman of the Elections Committee.

The chamber will continue to provide the attestation on proxies’ service until the day before the chamber’s General Assembly Meeting. The member may also obtain a power of attorney from the Real Estate Registration and Authentication Department at the Ministry of Justice.
