Sports minister inaugurates exhibition Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait

Minister of Sports and Youth HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani inaugurated an exhibition of former French national team player Zinedine Zidane titled ‘Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait’, in the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympics and Sports Museum.

The exhibition’s inauguration was attended by President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of Qatar Museums Mohammed Saad Al Rumaihi, President of the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympics and Sports Museum, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, several senior museum officials, Qatari football stars, and local, Gulf and Asian media.

The attendees listened to a presentation about the exhibition’s contents and collectables. It is composed of 11 screens to display the skills of the great player Zinedine Zidane, his accuracy and lure through multiple angles before, during and after the matches.

The camera also tracks the prominent international star before, during and after the games he played during his football career, either with France’s national team or Real Madrid.

The Real Madrid star won with France the World Cup in 1998, the same year he was awarded the Ballon d’Or.

The exhibition lasting until August 31, held in room 4 of the Olympics and Sports Museum, is a documentary about the world star as well as an art exhibition for the directors Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno.

On the sidelines of the inauguration, the Minister of Sports and Youth, the President of the Asian Football Confederation and high-level officials visited the Olympics and Sports Museum. During the visit, Director of the Museum, Abdulla Yousuf Al Mulla gave a comprehensive description of the museum’s contents, which is considered one of the most innovative sports museums in the world.

On his part, the President of the Asian Football Confederation expressed his happiness at visiting the Qatar Olympics and Sports Museum and viewing its precious and historical contents, confirming that it is worth the visit and is a true beacon for future generations.

President of the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympics and Sports Museum Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani confirmed that the exhibition is a continuation of Qatar’s successful sports journey, which has been the subject of praise from the global sports circles.
